One of my favorite memories of summer as a child, is running around everywhere barefoot! The feeling of grass in between my toes as I raced around the yard or as I sat on the ground eating a popsicle from the ice cream truck. Here's a simple, summery photo for your viewing pleasure!

Booneward Bound!
A couple weeks ago, Brandon, Walker, and I took a quick trip up to Boone, NC to shoot an assignment for our small format class. We had finished classes early that day and on a whim, just decided to drive up to Boone. It took about two hours but that's not long at all, especially when you have good friends and good music! The first thing we did upon arrival was head further up on the mountain to some overlook spots. The sun was starting to go down over the mountains so of course I had to document it!

Calvin Klein's One Summer
For our product lighting class, we had an assignment where we had to shoot a product using only available light. That means no strobe, no hot lights -- nothing but the sun serving as the main light source. For this specific shot, I used two pieces of white mat board as the background. I shot this around 7:30 in the evening, when the sun was low and directional. Then I used my silver reflector to throw some fill light on the front of the bottle and to add a little bit of specular highlight on the cap.

Playing in the Golden Hour
Muting the Golden Hour, a photo by hollyrose09 on Flickr.
Brandon, Walker, and I were feeling creative yesterday. We went out around seven o'clock to capture that nice light and played with some water.
It's summer in North Carolina, so of course it was hot out and this shot was captured after he had been splashed repeatedly in the face with water.

Parks and Recreation
Our assignment this week was Parks and Recreation. So I took a trip to Raleigh to shoot friend and fellow photographer Walker Anderson doin' his bike thing! It was my first time shooting something like this, so hopefully I didn't fail miserably. I shot these photos using his Canon 5D Mark II with a 17-40mm f/4 wide angle lens.
Now this shot was a little different.. I rotated the photo, completely changing the perspective. Leave me feedback, whether it be positive or negative! I'd love to hear it (:
It's All in the Eyes
Our first weekly assignment in our Small Format class was It's All in the Eyes. For this project, we had to photograph a stranger, making their eyes the main focus of the picture. Below is a triptych I made of my favorite shots I took for the project. The photo on the far right hand side is the one I submitted for the assignment.

RCC Spring 2011 Portraits: Section 02
Near the end of our spring semester, our design class took portraits of each other in the studio for fun. I took a little bit of behind the scenes video and compiled them all.
